Floating hearts

I had a funny dream
you were standing on the shore
in midst of warm night
in the back of the crowd.
Everyone was dressed up
in early renaissance style
funny little boats
were just floating around.
Then everyone invited
one friend for the vessel
and I couldn't understand
for what reasons or how.
They just smoothly sailed off
all together, two by two
but you were standing still
looking through me, through the dark.
I was no more observing
you waited for me to board
and so I came along
I still had to know why.
You said we need no script
or the reason to float
I tried to make it sound funny
but you didn't laugh at all.
It's then when I recognized
those vague colors of a dream
where the reasons don't matter
for the hearts to feel invited.
