The Monster

I have a secret
there's a monster in my basement
a monster I've locked up when
it came to hunt me down

there's nothing I can do 
I can't make it disappear 
but when it goes to sleep
I forget it's still alive.

So I'm just waiting for an end
maybe the end of the world
or a hunter to come help me
to take this monster down.
